Next production – Leaving Lockdown!

We are excited to announce our new production Leaving Lockdown on Fri 2nd and Sat 3rd December!

Appropriately, after two years’ of inactivity due to Covid, the focus of the production is Lockdown!

The first short play, ‘Leavings’ by Michael Frayn (the author of the hilarious ‘Noises Off’) harks back to the pre-Covid time when we used to have parties (though these didn’t seem to get interrupted at one address in Downing Street), and that dreaded moment when it’s time to leave, but no-one seems to have the social manners to actually get up and leave! Like a lot of Frayn’s humour, it takes an unexpected turn at the end …

Then we have two monologues from the Brass Works Theatre in Bristol, both inspired by lockdown. In The Deafening Quiet by Liz Lowe, a home-schooling mum enjoys the silence of the smallest room. In Helen Ward’s Village Vigilante, we hear of Stan’s vlog of his efforts to keep the social distance in his local community.

Finally, the Little Grimley team are back, after their last hilarious outing ‘Little Grimley Presents Strictly Sex Factor (On Ice), which featured Jenny Allen trying to stand upright in roller skates (see below).

In a time of lockdown, the Chairman Gordon calls an emergency meeting, complete with social distancing, to discuss his idea for their next production when restrictions ease – a touching love story set in a hospital, with all profits destined for the NHS. But based on their previous efforts, will the NHS actually end up worse off?

Should be a hilarious evening, so we do hope you will come and support your local drama group and come along for the fun! Masks optional!!
